Hand carved walnut and elm Renaissance style bibliothèque with drop down hidden compartment behind false drawer fronts. Lower buffet dates to the eighteenth century. Upper cabinet was a commissioned addition in the nineteenth century. Carvings include faces of the Green Man, a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth in the spring. Rare piece from Alsace, France.
