Found in France, this very large 19th century black lacquer wooden tray dates to the period of Napoleon III circa 1848-1870.. An ornately hand painted scene in gold chinoiserie features a grand procession in front of an imperial palace displayed on an unfurling Chinese scroll at the center of the tray. A double border of elegantly scrolled leaves form a perimeter around the central theme. A striking piece to be exhibited on a wall or tabletop easel.
