Early nineteenth century Empire period white and gold porcelain coffee and tea service, c. 1810. Sixteen pieces include coffee pot with lid, teapot with lid, sugar bowl with lid, creamer, four cups and four saucers. Originally from a castle near Nimes. Each piece has a different rebus riddle saying about love in gold. Each saucer has a heart and arrow in gold.
