Nineteenth century Transition style rosewood and palisander meuble de maitrise with marble top, bronze ormolu sabots and bronze drop ring handles. Two drawers with key and working lock. Drawers are silk lined. This miniature chest was made by a cabinet maker's apprentice at the end of his apprenticeship to prove his mastery of cabinet making skills. c. 1870.
