Many of the villages in the Perigord are designated as medieval bastides. They consist of a central square with a covered market area with shops and houses under arcades all around the square. We wandered through several bastide villages today.
One of them was all decked out with strings of flowers.
Another was sprinkled with large colored pencils. Modern art thrown into the medieval mix.
The inhabitants of the bastides come in all sizes.
As do the local tractors.
